Venice
It’s now Tuesday evening. Came to Venice yesterday afternoon after an 8 hour drive from Atlanta, in time to Meet Jean and Tony for dinner at Crow’s Nest at 6:15. Love Crow’s Nest. So many good memories from the years from 2006 to 2023 when Paul and I owned a place in Bay Indies till…

What a day
Oh my, what a lot we fit into the days. Yesterday morning we went to the Atlanta zoo. My mom’s favorite animal is the giraffe, andI I found out we could feed them at the zoo. What we didn’t count on was that it was ‘Boo at the Zoo’ day, where every family in Atlanta…

Paradoxes
Four and a half days so far from Wednesday morning to now, Sunday evening. Filled with so many experiences. So many happy because of being with and talking to and sharing with loved ones. Others sad because of mourning Barbara’s death. Yet being with Barbara’s children was happy because we were talking and sharing and…

Old Home Month
Mind blown. We got to spend time (and meals!—Bonnie made a superb white bean chicken chili with a spicy satisfying bite to it) with Bonnie and Joe, whom neither of us had seen in years. We saw their new house, which is beautiful and has a nice feel to it. Yesterday we stayed with my…

Dear Barbara
Friday, October 25, 2024. Such a very sad day. Barbara Horswell died today. Her beloved husband Dan and her family are devastated. She was my dear friend for over 60 years. I am so saddened. Ironically, Chris and I were to see her tomorrow. So Saturday Chris and I will cry with her family.

Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey

Another Day in Paradise
Still in the Flat Rock / Hendersonville area. Went to Arabella’s for brunch. Since they didn’t have eggs Benedict, I chose avocado toast with eggs-over- easy. Tasty. Then wandered around the town a bit looking for Salvation Army for something to turn into possible Halloween apparel. The place was closed! Too much walking for me…

Morning in Hendersonville
We are in a lakeside cabin complex. Ours looks over the lake, but mom is sleeping in that room so I wont go to see the balcony yet. Awoke to geese honking. I like that. I went up to the car to get the coffee maker (I brought mine in self defense, in case one…

Leaving Cleveland
We did leave on time. Well, almost. 9:20. Not bad. A gorgeous day, The October scenery in the mountains of West Virginia is spectacular. Chloe (what I call the GPS) did a fine job. She even told us how to manuever around the portions of Routes 26 and 40 damaged by Helene. We saw some…

Notes from Cleveburg
It is Tuesday before the Wednesday we leave for Asheville. That’s right, the devastated town nearly blown away by Helene. My brother Joe and Bonnie live in Flat Rock 45 minutes away. Thank goodness no devastation there, just debris. Haven’t seen them in two years. We meet at a restaurant in Hendersonville at 7 pm.…
